Mark Your Calendar
Mark your calendars: MAY 16, 2012. Wake up in the morning, take a shower, and don't straighten, blow dry or curl your hair; let it fall the way it wants to. Guess what to do next! Don't put on your makeup. Let your face be as it will be. Make a statement for one day, ONE DAY! Tell the world you are proud to be you and won't let others change how beautiful you are. It is such a simple thing to do but it can make such a difference. Go one with your day and tell people what you are doing. Tell them how you feel and why you're doing it. For one day be the al naturale you.
Growing up is not an easy thing to do. Everyday is a challenge. Whether it is school work, extracurricular activities, friends, or family, there is always something going on. Add to that the pressures that society puts on us to look a certain way and to fit in with the newest style and you have one mess of a time. I can tell you from experience that some days I wish I lived in a different society without these pressures but I don't and it saddens me. Here's how I see it: we as a society need to embrace our true beauty and celebrate who we are. I can write for hours on the way the media has effected people's images of themselves or about how a little girl watching her mother put on her makeup in the morning has an affect on her, but I won't. Here is what I propose: Everyone steps back for a day and goes al naturale. Let your hair hang loose for a day and skip the morning makeup routine. Actions speak louder than words. And a mass actions shouts even louder. So join me, I promise it won't be that hard
